Giving thanks.

For expats, Thanksgiving is a celebration of survival; comparable to the Pilgrims of 1621. We too give thanks after a harsh x amount of months succeeding in our new home.  Surviving homesickness, foreign bureaucracy , illness….the list goes on. Gathering the ones who helped you along the way and saying merci; is what an expat’s Thanksgiving looks like in a nutshell. There’s a lot to be grateful for. For me it’s the same things: technology , which enables me to be apart of my dear family’s celebration 5, 214 miles away and an oven to make pumpkin pie. This year was extra special because I baked the pie in my very own oven.

Count your blessings; even if its for this day only.
